Just me, the peacock

This card didn’t need much more then the peacock – it’s wings are proudly covering almost all of the card.

Started with stamping the peacock in stazon midnight blue, colouring some bits with milled lavender distress marker. Then inked the background with various shades of yellow to orange distress inks. Used a TCW stencil and some more orange, then another stencil with faded jeans distress ink.

The peacock didn’t get enough focus so I heat embossed it with blue embossing powder and added white accents.

It looked great as it was (on the above picture allready embossed, but picture taken outside without flash), but still needed to be put on a card. I used lavendercoloured cardstock, and repeated the stencil with the baubles with faded jeans distress ink.

Also adding this to Vandicraft’s Artistry Challenge March: Emboss it.

I’m still in doubt wether to add a small sentiment to the upper left corner. What do you think?

  1. Hi Debbie, love the peacock you’ve made and the stenciling too, beautiful creation! I am also curious about the embossing powder you have used………it has a lovely thick layer! xxMiranda

    • It’s Ranger’s Blue Glass embossing powder. It does seem very thick indeed, and feels thick as well. I stamped the image first with Stazon Midnight blue, but it didn’t pop enough so I used the stampruler to apply versamark & embossing powder on it. Maybe the little shapes of which the image is made also increase the surface tension and it gets more rounded?

  2. Hi Debbie, a super card, and that embossing is lovely, I might need to look out for that one! Thanks for your entry into the Chocolate Baroque challenge, Judith xx

  3. Beautiful card Debbie, the embossing on the gorgeous peacock is fabulous. Thanks for joining us again at Chocolate Baroque’s Challenge, Shirleyxx

  4. Fabulous card. CB stamps are so beautiful! That has to be a Chocolate Baroque stamp, right? No, I don’t think it needs a sentiment. Put one inside if you think it has to have one.

    • Thank you for your visit! It is indeed a Chocolate Baroque stamp, from one of the peacock sets. Putting the sentiment inside is a good idea, I hardly do that so it just doesn’t come to mind as an option.

It is always a little gift when someone took the time to comment, feedback is much appreciated. / Het is een klein cadeautje wanneer iemand een reactie achterlaat, feedback wordt gewaardeerd!
